EVE Energy has signed a strategic partnership with Green Whale Technology (GWT) to expand the global adoption of high-performance marine battery energy storage systems (BESS). The agreement combines EVE Energy’s lithium marine battery technology with GWT’s marine engineering, commissioning and lifecycle service expertise.

The collaboration follows the companies’ previous achievement in delivering the first BV-classed marine battery container built in Asia. The new strategic framework is structured as a back-to-back partnership, ensuring full support from EVE Energy across all areas of cooperation.

The new DNV-certified marine BESS introduces several notable features. EVE’s active balancing technology enables a lifecycle of up to 15 years, exceeding current LFP systems and reducing total cost of ownership. EVE is also the only supplier offering 3C continuous LFP marine batteries, positioning the technology as an alternative to NMC-based systems traditionally used in high C-rate maritime applications.

According to the partners, their combined production capacity, LFP chemistry advantages, maritime experience, cost structure and global service capability demonstrate the solution’s potential to shift the market.

Godfrey Wang, CEO of Green Whale Technology, said, “GWT is very proud of this partnership, especially because we are a young company. This really strengthens our ability to provide lifecycle solutions to global customers. I would like to thank the entire EVE team for their trust and seamless collaboration, and we look forward to growing together.”

To support customers worldwide, GWT is establishing a Netherlands-based cloud service platform to ensure data compliance and digital security and reduce geopolitical risks. Spare parts depots in Norway and the Netherlands will enhance after-sales response, and the partners plan joint R&D initiatives.

EVE Energy will leverage its ESS production capacity of more than 10MWh per day to ensure scalable delivery. The 3C marine battery system is priced below US$300/kWh, which the company says is unique in the market.

Yong Cong Xiong, head of marine and port at EVE Energy, said the collaboration aims to ensure customers “receive the best available battery technology, backed by global support throughout the product lifecycle”, adding that the extended 15-year system lifetime marks a significant milestone for deployment in maritime markets.
