RIB manufacturer Zodiac Nautic has partnered with Flux Marine to electrify its range of vessels, marking a significant step in the long-established manufacturer’s shift toward zero-emission propulsion.
The first model to emerge from the collaboration will be an electric version of the Medline 6.8, powered by Flux Marine’s 115hp all-electric outboard motor. The boat will be unveiled at the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 29- November 2.
Flux Marine’s propulsion system uses a proprietary modular battery pack designed for quick acceleration, high cruising speeds and reduced maintenance compared to internal combustion engines. The company’s integrated touchscreen helm display enables users to monitor performance and range in real time, while a companion mobile app provides remote access to system data.
Charging can be carried out via a standard home outlet for overnight replenishment, marina shore power, or via a DC fast charger, which will top up the battery in about an hour.
“With more than a century of innovation behind us, Zodiac Nautic is excited to join Flux Marine as we lead the way into the electrified future of marine propulsion,” said Tim March II, chief operations officer at Zodiac Nautic. “Our vessels have pioneered new ways to explore and enjoy the oceans, and this collaboration continues that legacy with sustainable, quiet power for the next generation of boating.”
“Zodiac has always been a symbol of adventure, innovation and performance on the water, and this collaboration allows us to demonstrate how high-powered electric marine propulsion can elevate our customers’ boating experience,” commented Flux Marine chief executive Ben Sorkin. “Our goal has always been to deliver electric propulsion systems that exceed the expectations of everyday boating applications.”
