The Port of Genoa has installed a DC 75kW Aqua superPower marine fast charger at Marina Genova. The move supports the electrification of boating in the area and the marina’s mission to adopt environmentally conscious practices.
The new charging station, developed in collaboration with Aqua superPower, adds to the growing network of electric vessel charging infrastructure along the corridor from the French Riviera to Liguria. It complements the recent deployment of two charging stations at the neighboring Marina di Loano – one DC 75kW and one AC 22kW.
With this infrastructure, electric vessels can now navigate fully electrified routes from Saint Tropez to Genoa, making it the longest electrified coastal waterway in the world, according to Aqua superPower.
The initiative is part of the region’s goal of reducing maritime emissions and preserving the pristine natural beauty of the natural parks in the area, such as the Cinque Terre National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site and Portofino.
The strategic location of Marina Genova, next to Genoa’s airport, opens new possibilities for electric boating, enabling continuous and sustainable exploration of the entire port area.
Electric boat users are now better able to navigate Genoa’s historic port and beyond, allowing eco-friendly day trips or extended journeys along the Ligurian coast.
The new Aqua 75 DC marine fast charge station was switched on to coincide with the Genoa Boat Show, which ran September 18-23.
“This collaboration with Aqua superPower is a game-changer for sustainable boating in Liguria,” said Giuseppe Salamanca, chief of operations at Marina Genova. “The new charging station not only supports cleaner navigation but also positions Genoa as a leader in the global transition to electric maritime transport.”
“The installation of Aqua superPower’s fast charger at Marina Genova is a pivotal step in electrifying Liguria’s coastline,” added Dario Sirtori, deployment manager Italy for Aqua superPower. “This project not only enhances sustainable boating in the Cinque Terre National Park and Portofino but also strengthens the region’s role as a pioneer in eco-friendly maritime innovation.”
