Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology
June 2020

The June 2020 issue is now available online! Packed full of news, interviews and features, including:

Cover Story: Hybrid Superyacht
Heesen’s second aluminum-hulled hybrid yacht combines two diesel engines with two electric motors to deliver near-silent cruising and a notable efficiency upgrade.

OEM Interview
Electric and hybrid propulsion is just for ferries, right? Wrong. As Philip Holt of MAN Energy Solutions tells us, despite evidence to the contrary, there’s a place for batteries on the big ships.

Australia Emissions
Australia is the fifth-largest user of shipping services in the world, with 10% of global sea trade passing through its ports. Yet it’s universally recognized that the country lags behind in cutting emissions, particularly in the marine sector. E&H Marine looks at how the nation’s shipping industry intends to clean up its act.

Fire Safety
On October 10, 2019, the Norwegian hybrid car ferry Ytterøyningen suffered a fire in its battery room, followed 12 hours later by an explosion in the adjacent switchboard room. E&H Marine looks at the probable causes and how the industry can prevent such a situation ever happening again.
