Aqua superPower and Evoy partner to expand commercial electric boat sector

A strategic partnership between marine fast-charging network operator Aqua superPower and Norwegian electric boat motor systems developer Evoy has been formed to support the transition to a more sustainable commercial boating industry. Both companies will subsequently promote the adoption of e-mobility in the marine sector.

Evoy produces 100% electric outboard and inboard motor systems suitable for installation on board powerful vessels measuring between 20ft and 50ft. The plug-and-play turnkey propulsion solutions range in power output from 120hp to 400hp and can be installed on a wide array of vessel types including service boats, tugboats, ferries and lifeboats.

Much like Aqua superPower, Evoy has adopted the universal electric vehicle Combined Charging System which makes use of connectors to provide a power output of up to 350kW. Furthermore, Aqua superPower’s fully sealed IP-65 rated DC rapid chargers are also smart networked to provide regional charging corridors and hubs in both inland and coastal boating areas.

Through the partnership both companies will offer their own marine fast-charging infrastructure and clean technology solutions to site owners and commercial boating operators to aid in decarbonizing the maritime industry while protecting marine ecosystems.

“The boat market is changing rapidly, and we seek industry partnerships and collaboration to successfully develop and deliver clean boating solutions,” commented Leif A Stavøstrand, CEO, Evoy. “In Norway we have seen that proprietary charging networks, such as Tesla, have been much less of a competitive edge than originally thought. This is one of the reasons Evoy decided to partner with Aqua superPower, where the focus of their marine fast-charging network is on interoperability, safety, and accessibility to all electric boat users.”

“We are delighted to collaborate with Evoy to drive the adoption of electric boating while developing the fast-charging infrastructure required to support users in transitioning away from liquid carbon fuels,” said Alex Bamberg, CEO, Aqua superPower. “The commercial landscape is of massive interest to us, as electrifying the more frequent duty cycles of these vessels will have a significant positive impact on the marine environment.”

By utilizing data collected by Aqua superPower’s network, the partnership is able to gain clear insights on general usage trends, how often boats are utilized and how much charge is used. This data will subsequently help service providers to cater for emerging patterns, while improving route planning and fleet management.

Evoy specializes in the design, development and manufacture of 100% electric motor systems for commercial and leisure boats.
