Green City Ferries (GCF) is a Stockholm based start-up dedicated to efficient and sustainable waterborne mobility by delivering innovative, cost-effective and emission-free high-speed commuter ferries for urban areas, island traffic and inland waterways. Fast charging, frequent services and low fares all combine to offer a compelling alternative to traditional ferries and modes of commuting such as cars, or buses, wherever there is a suitable waterway.
At the heart of the solution lies the Beluga24, the most energy-efficient and technically advanced ferry of its type available today. The Beluga24, comes with two emission-free options – battery electric for short journeys and hydrogen fuel cell for long ones – and it has been designed as a multi-purpose solution for public transportation with space for 147 passengers and 28 bicycles and fitted with Cafeteria, Wi-fi, toilet facilities and flat-screens to provide the utmost comfort. The Beluga24 combines innovative hydrofoil technology, a carbon fibre light weight hull and advanced wave piercing bulbs to ensure high energy efficiency. The result is a premium vessel that creates low wakes (25cm) and has outstanding manoeuvrability to ensure a fast (30 knots) and comfortable ride.
Green City Ferries produces the Beluga24 in its own yard strategically located in Härnösand, Sweden. The shipyard consists of a 4 000 sqm production area (2 halls, 20 x 100 meters each) with access to a 120 meter dry-dock and the ferries are constructed in serial production based on one single platform. In addition to designing, constructing, and delivering the vessels, GCF supports clients with extensive after-sale service support. Furthermore, GCF supports its clients with a holistic solution that assists clients with shoreside electric and hydrogen infrastructure as well as innovative financing solutions that significantly lowers the cost for both capital and operational expenditures for buyers.
