It was anchors aweigh in Chicago this morning as the doors opened at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo North America. Visitors have been flocking to see the latest technologies for electric and hybrid marine propulsion from some of the biggest names in the industry. Here’s just a small taste of what’s on offer.

ABB reveals compact power system

ABB exhibits at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo North America.ABB is showing its Compact Onboard DC Grid at the expo. The flexible, space-saving power system is ideal for fully electric, hybrid and PTO/PTI configurations. Tailored for vessels with limited installation space, it enables easy integration of low-emission energy sources, battery storage and charging systems. With a modular design, small footprint and standardized components, the system ensures quick, reliable installation and futureproof scalability.

“We’re here to highlight ABB’s role as a leading electrical systems integrator for marine electrification,” said Timo Vesala, the company’s VP of marine systems sales. “From concept to service, we support owners, operators, shipyards and designers with integrated solutions that simplify complexity and accelerate the transition to low-emission operations. We’re looking forward to meeting operators, naval architects and technology partners who are ready to futureproof their fleets.”
